> Nurse blackmailed into sex with man sets trap for him

KUALA LUMPUR: A 24-year-old man forced a nurse into a sexual relationship for more than a year by threatening to distribute pictures of her in the nude.

He frequently travelled from the East Coast to meet her at her house and at the hospital in the federal capital where she worked.

But on Thursday, when he turned up at the nurse’s apartment unit in Setapak he walked into a police trap.

They seized a nude picture of the nurse that was taken in 2007 when the couple, both from the East Coast, were on holiday there.

It is learnt that he had used the threat to distribute the nude picture to coerce her into having sex with him.

Sentul police chief Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan said the nurse, in her 20s, lodged a report against the man on Feb 24.

In her police report, she said he had threatened to expose pictures of her in the nude.

“The man has been harassing the nurse for over a year since she got a job at a hospital in the city,” ACP Zakaria said. “She informed us that he would be at her house on Thursday.”

Police then laid in wait and arrested the man when he turned up. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

ACP Zakaria said the nurse got to know the man three years ago and had been in a sexual relationship with him since 2007.

It is also learnt that the man is to be engaged to another woman chosen by his family.

This is the second such case involving a nurse.

On Feb 13, nude photographs of a 28-year-old nurse in Penang were circulated on the Internet.

The nurse, who works in a private hospital, lodged a police report on Dec 5 and a man was detained to facilitate investigations.

He has since been released on bail.
