> Guy brings pet pig (dog) into MRT train

A STOMPer was mortified to see this man with a dog on board an MRT train.
The STOMPer says:
“I was on my way home taking the East-West line MRT towards Boon Lay.
“The time was about 5 plus in the evening (peak period).
“When the train’s door open, i was shocked to see a DOG in the carriage!
“The guy in GREY is the owner. Many people stared at him but he didnt seems to be bothered.
“How on earth can a person be so inconsiderate!”

> Bogus cop rapes girl in presence of boyfriend
TAMPIN, Malaysia – A Form Three student from a secondary school near here was repeatedly raped by a bogus policeman in a rubber plantation in Felda Bukit Rotan near here early on Wednesday morning.
The girl was on her way home about 1am after going to Gemas town with her boyfriend when they did not realise they were being followed by two men in a car from Gemas to Felda Jelai.
When they reached a bridge at Pasir Besar, the vehicle overtook their van and forced them to stop.
It is learnt that as soon as the boyfriend stopped the van, a man opened the door and identified himself as a policeman before pulling out a knife and holding it to the boy-friend’s abdomen.
The couple were forced to drive to a nearby rubber plantation where the two men then asked the boyfriend to stay in the van while one of them took the girl out.
The man then ordered the girl to undress and threatened her with the knife. He slapped her a few times when she refused.
While one of the men stood guard at the van with the boyfriend, the other raped the girl thrice till about 6am before the two men left the couple at the plantation.
The victim and her boyfriend later lodged a report at the Gemencheh police station.
District police chief Superintendent Zull Aznam Harun confirmed that a report had been lodged and that police had mounted a search for the suspects.
He said the victim had been sent to the Tampin Hospital for a medical check-up.
> Trans-Cab axes fuel surcharge

Much lower diesel price prompted move; other operators yet to decide
By Christopher Tan

ONE of Singapore’s smallest taxi companies has announced it will break ranks with industry giants and drop a 30-cent fuel surcharge.
Trans-Cab, which has a fleet of 2,200 red-and-white taxis, said it will lift the levy on Nov 11, just over three months after powerhouse ComfortDelGro introduced the surcharge.
It was quickly adopted by other cab companies, much to the chagrin of commuters still coming to grips with a fare increase introduced last December.
Trans-Cab managing director Teo Kiang Ang said the company decided to lift the levy because the price of diesel has fallen substantially since July.
‘For the customer, the surcharge is not so good,’ he said.
The flat surcharge was applied in July to help cabbies dull the impact of fast-rising diesel prices. But diesel at the pumps has fallen to $1.55 from the July peak of $2.03, on the back of weaker global consumption and softer speculative trading.
This has prompted many members of the public to question why cab operators are still applying the surcharge.
Trans-Cab, a newcomer when the industry was liberalised five years ago, is the fourth-largest of the six taxi firms here, after ComfortDelGro, SMRT Corp and Premier Taxis.
The other operators, including Smart Automobiles and Prime Taxis, have yet to make a decision on the surcharge, though they had a meeting last Friday with the Taxi Operators’ Associations, which represents the interests of cabbies.
The association was unavailable for comment yesterday, though ComfortDelGro said: ‘We will make an announcement when we have decided.’
It is unusual for a smaller player like Trans-Cab to make the first move on pricing matters. Instead, operators often take their cue from ComfortDelGro, which has about 60 per cent of the cabs here.
A manager at another operator said: ‘We’re too small to make such decisions; so we wait and see what Comfort does.’
Merchandiser Ivy Ong, 42, a regular taxi commuter, welcomed Trans-Cab’s decision to lift the surcharge.
‘I will definitely look out for Trans-Cab taxis. But why aren’t the other companies waiving the surcharge too since the price of diesel has fallen so much?’

Miss Lin says she has never once run out of spending money

ST PHOTO: CHEW SENG KIM
For 20-year-old undergraduate Agnes Lin, the recession could just be academic.
The Nanyang Technological University first-year student has never been in need: She carries a $2,000 Louis Vuitton handbag to school and uses only Shiseido cosmetic and skincare products.
She carries around the latest mobile phone and goes on overseas vacations with her friends where she would bust $1,000 on shopping alone.
Twice monthly, she shops at her favourite stores – Topshop, Zara and Forever21.
Mum, a private tutor, and Dad, a businessman selling polythene bags, pay for her expenses.
Miss Lin is aware that Singapore faces a recession but the news does not bother her.
She said: ‘I think it is okay for me to maintain my current lifestyle. I may be spending a little bit more than my friends but I don’t think I’m overspending.’
At the moment, she has her eyes on the latest mobile phone in the market, the HTC Touch Pro, which costs about $700.
Although her mother has said ‘no’ to her buying yet another mobile phone, Ms Lin has an inkling she will still get it.
‘I think my mum will still buy it for me. My birthday is coming up!’ she said with a giggle. She confessed that since young, she has never run out of cash. Her parents give her money whenever she asks.
Since she was 16, her monthly pocket money has been $500.
She has an older brother, also an undergraduate. The family live in a four-room flat in Marine Parade.
She thinks a friend of hers, who is left with $20 to last until the end of the month, is silly to consider taking up a part-time job to earn some extra cash.
‘I don’t understand why she cannot just ask her parents for money,’ sighed Miss Lin.
She will enter the working world only after three years but she is already planning ahead.
With her first pay packet, she will buy a $4,000 Chanel bag. ‘After that, I will probably get more bags and watches,’ she added.

> 15yo teen raped by 15yo boyfriend and seven others
KUALA TERENGGANU: A 15-year-old sneaked out of her Kampung Ajil home about 1.30am on Friday for a romantic tryst with her boyfriend. It turned into a nightmare of sexual violence as she was gang-raped by her 15-year-old boyfriend and seven others, aged 15 to 19
Her boyfriend had taken her to a vacant house where he and three others raped her.
She has identified the three as locals from her village, said a police spokesman.
He then took her to another vacant house in a nearby village where she was forced to have sex with four strangers.
When they were done, he was dropped off at a friend’s home. She lodged a police report later that day.
Her boyfriend and an 18-year-old from the same village have been arrested.
Police are searching for the remaining six suspects who are believed to be in hiding.
> 19yo teen charged with molest 9yo girl
A TEENAGER was charged in a district court on Friday with outraging the modesty of a nine-year-old girl on Aug 28.
Tan Boon An, 19, had allegedly pointed a knife at the girl and asked her to take off her t-shirt on the 13th floor lift lobby of a block in Choa Chu Kang Street 62.
He had already been charged earlier this month for another count of outrage of modesty.
In that incident, which took place inside a lift at block in Choa Chu Kang Crescent on Oct 6, Tan allegedly grabbed an eight-year-old girl by her shoulder, pulled her close to him and covered her mouth with his hands.
He has been remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for an assessment.
> 36yo male tutor charged for forcing 9yo boy to perform oral sex
A PRIVATE tutor was charged in a district court on Friday for forcing a nine-year-old boy to perform oral sex on him.
Cheong Boon Khing Douglas, 36, had allegedly made the boy perform the act on a number of occasions from mid-February to early May, according to court documents.
He is out on bail and is due to appear in court again on Nov 13.
