> Asiaone contest requires participants to post their personal particulars on the public forum!!
Are the organisers complacent about their users’ privacy?
Why else would they come up with such unorthodox way of organising contest?
And this, coming from the Wine & Dine portal of Asiaone, which recently won an award for popularity in the food and beverage segment by HITWISE (PDF), so unbecoming of them.
Telemarketers would probably be jumping with glee now. Why? 100 over contact listing of gullible internet noobs to poach. These are probably the same people who will go down to their office to listen to seminars on Time share, FREE gym/beauty package, Luckydraw winner stuffs.. you get it. Truely found a gold mine.
AsiaOne, the Singapore Press Holdings’ Internet portal, clinched three of the seven top online awards won by the media giant at the second “Hitwise Online Performance Awards” ceremony this evening to recognise No. 1 websites with growing market share.
The winning AsiaOne websites are AsiaOne Multimedia, AsiaOne Wine, Dine and Unwind and AsiaOne Horoscopes the latter two for the second year in a row.
The triple awards for AsiaOne show that its major revamp last September to make the website more user-friendly and appealing is paying off. The new-look online news and lifestyle portal (www.asiaone.com) now offers interactive features like polls and forums to give readers more avenues to air their views and contribute content. It has also beefed up its content and added new sections like Business, Just Woman and Multimedia, as well as stepped up its production of vodcasts and photo galleries.

EDIT:
Apparently they have woken up. Hmm will we see a repeat of “This shouldn’t have happened. We are sorry it had?”
