6 in 10 new jobs go to foreigners VS “S’pore adds record number of jobs in 2007, a third filled by foreigners” VS “S’poreans and foreigners gain from job boom“.

SIX in ten jobs created last year went to foreigners, the first time in at least six years that their share was larger than locals.

This comes at a time when job creation is at a record high, and unemployment and retrenchment at record lows.

Before

After

Now

How does 6 in 10 new jobs go to foreigners” translates to “S’pore adds record number of jobs in 2007, a third filled by foreigners“?

S’pore adds record number of jobs in 2007, a third (of jobs, total jobs) filled by foreigners”

or in numbers…

New jobs: 236,600

Local vs Foreigner: 92,100 vs 144,500

or 38.9% vs 61.1%

6/10 new jobs went to foreigners.

But with creativity, we have,

Total workforce : 2,700,000

Local vs Foreigners: 1,799,200 vs 900,800

or 66.6% (hey 66.6% again!) vs 33.4%

1/3 filled by foreigners.

More good years!

  5. The country has come to such a sad state of affair ……. one has to try to read between the lines to find out the truth. If that’s not bad enough, the lines are now being constantly revised !

The media has completely failed in its obligation to tell the truth.
